Swisslog strengthens electromobility with modern charging infrastructure from Compleo

All-in-one AC charging station DUO supports group-wide sustainability strategy - Attractive added value for employees

Dortmund, March 24, 2026 – Swisslog, one of the leading providers of logistics automation, is consistently advancing the expansion of sustainable mobility at its Dortmund site and is relying on high-performance charging infrastructure from Compleo Charging Solutions. The charging park with DUO AC stations supports the electrification of the company fleet, promotes sustainable mobility in the workplace, and offers employees an attractive charging solution for both company and private vehicles. At the same time, this initiative is part of the group-wide sustainability strategy of the KUKA Group, to which the company belongs.

KUKA aims to make its vehicle fleet largely CO₂-neutral by 2030, particularly with regard to new vehicles. Swisslog’s fleet currently comprises around 150 vehicles, of which approximately 30% are fully electric and another 20% are plug-in hybrids. The share of electric vehicles is steadily increasing. “The fleet is one of the most important levers for reducing our CO₂ footprint. That’s why we are consistently and strategically driving electrification forward,” explains Gerd Jennissen, Managing Director of Swisslog GmbH. He adds: “Compleo’s DUO charging stations are an established, mature solution that ensures high availability in all seasons.”

Scalable design, reliable operation

Since its commissioning, the charging infrastructure has been used intensively. The charging park comprises a total of 50 charging points. Average utilization has now reached around 5,000 kWh per month—and continues to rise. Many employees charge their private electric vehicles during working hours at a reduced rate of €0.25/kWh.

Scalability was a key focus in the implementation of the DUO fleet solution. The charging station features the Power Rail busbar system, enabling cost-efficient installation and convenient future expansion. User-friendliness and high technical availability were also top priorities. One of the biggest challenges was ensuring sufficient power supply for up to 50 charging points operating simultaneously in the future. This is managed by the load management system integrated into the DUO charging station, which efficiently distributes the available power across all connected vehicles. In ongoing operation, the solution has proven its reliability even after more than three years. Regular firmware updates for the charging stations further ensure operational stability and long-term viability.

For operating the Compleo charging stations, Swisslog chose the central backend system from vaylens. It enables easy assignment of charging authorizations as well as a transparent overview of usage and utilization of the charging points.

Electromobility as a location and competitive factor

“The opportunity to use office hours to charge vehicles is a real added value for many employees. For some, this offer was even a decisive factor in purchasing an electric vehicle,” Jennissen explains. “Both the vaylens portal and the firmware of the Compleo charging stations are continuously being developed. This is a positive signal for us, showing how active support and product management are.”

“A charging park is only successful if it runs reliably in everyday operation and if updates, support, and further development function smoothly,” says Dr. Björn Dietrich, CEO of Compleo Charging Solutions. “The fact that Swisslog has been using the infrastructure intensively for more than three years is a strong signal of operational quality.”

For Swisslog, charging infrastructure is an important building block of an attractive and future-oriented workplace. At the same time, it helps companies take responsibility for sustainable mobility. “Companies should recognize the potential early and take action. The currently tax-advantaged charging of electric and hybrid vehicles at the employer’s premises in accordance with Section 3 No. 46 of the German Income Tax Act (EStG) lowers the barriers to entry. This naturally makes implementation much easier,” emphasizes Jennissen.
