International guidelines
UN Global Compact, Paris Agreement and core labour standards
Corporate activities of Compleo must always be viewed within the global context. How we manufacture our products has a direct impact on the individual links of our supply chain around the globe. We thus commit to the various relevant international guidelines in our ESG strategy.
Compleo signed up to the United Nations Global Compact in 2021. This is the most comprehensive and important initiative for sustainable and responsible business practices worldwide. The project was set up in 2000 by the then Secretary General Kofi Annan. It comprises a commitment to adhere to and promote ten universal principles from the areas of human and labour rights, environmental protection and anti-corruption. We report on our progress in implementing the ten principles every year in the sustainability report section of our annual report.
In our fight against climate change we have committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement. By now, 194 countries around the world and the entire European Union have acknowledged the urgency of the climate crisis and signed up to the legally binding 2015 climate protection agreement to limit global warming to well below 2, preferably to 1.5 degrees Celsius, compared to pre-industrial levels. With regard to the impact of its own activities, Compleo needs to ensure that it contributes as little as possible towards climate change. Our reduction paths are in line with the Paris Agreement.
Furthermore, the core labour standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO) guide our conduct with regard to our supply chain. These social standards of global trading consist of a number of agreements that were included in a joint declaration in 1998. The core labour standards define minimum standards with regard to forced labour, the freedom of association, discrimination and equal pay for men and women as well as child labour and equality. Compleo adheres to these standards at all times and also commits its partners to strictly implement them.
Our focus on SDGs
We support the United Nations’ 2016 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contribute towards the UN vision to “achieve a better and more sustainable future for all” by 2030. The SDGs highlighted in different colours are particularly relevant for our business.
