A seamless overall system: As pioneers of bidirectional charging, KOSTAL and Compleo are jointly developing an overall technical system. In the world of bidirectional charging, a large number of components have to communicate with each other. As a competence hub for bidirectional technology, KOSTAL and Compleo connect the onboard charger in the vehicle with the bidirectional charging box as well as the solar inverter and the battery storage in the house, controlled by the KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter. In this way, the vehicle as a mobile storage unit will become an active part of the energy transition.

More solar energy and more grid capacity

The first use cases for bidirectional AC charging are home charging boxes and charging boxes in companies with company car fleets, which make it possible to increase self-consumption on the one hand and peak shaving on the other. Bidirectional technology turns parking into a source of income for EV drivers: users can offer flexibility that does not restrict their habits and at the same time supports the grid.

KOSTAL and Compleo offer in-depth V2G expertise

Compleo and KOSTAL actively support and accompany the regulation for a bidirectional charging system. For example, more than 10 standards and protocols are currently being coordinated for an AC system. Compleo and KOSTAL's development work is always based on the latest version of the relevant standards. The result is a future-proof system that is expected to be ready for the market in two years' time. 

In developing the bidirectional charging system, Compleo is relying on high-performance and reliable charging technology as well as five years of field test experience in bidirectional charging projects. The new technical system also incorporates KOSTAL's extensive expertise - both in the field of onboard chargers and in Europe-wide certified solar power generation and intelligent energy use.
